As an educator for nine years, I am intimately aware of the challenges and troubles that face the American school system today as it aims to prepare its youth for competition in the world of tomorrow. I understand that the mission of education—to continually improve learner performance—is not to be taken lightly by its shareholders, especially considering the consequences of failing to find a solution to this all encompassing problem. Essentially, instructional design is about improving human performance. For this reason, I recognize the clear and urgent need for effective instructional design in education. Through careful analysis of the problem, systematic design and development of the solution, conscientious implementation of the solution strategies, and useful evaluation of the overall instructional design plan, the imperative needs of the American school system may be properly met so that its noble mission is achieved.
